Photos: Dream beach holiday ends in tragedy as 7 students drown in the Indian Ocean

Tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon August 12th when 7 students of St Martin Boys’ Boarding Primary School in Kahuro, Murang’a County, Kenya drowned in the Indian Ocean while on school holiday. The students, aged between 13 and 15, met their deaths while swimming at the Pavilion Beach, Diani, in Kwale.

The students were on a tour of the Coast as they waited to sit their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams in November.

Sources at the scene of the incident narrated how it all happened to news men.
"Normally, there are trained divers who guide people swimming in sea, but the school’s teacher said they had their own person who would guide the pupils,”
The students, according to them, had arrived at 1pm that fateful day and immediately hit the waters in windy weather. They were having a good time until the receding tides overwhelmed some of the swimmers. They called for help but it was too late and they were swallowed by the sea. It took divers more than six hours to retrieve the bodies due to poor coordination.

According to the Governor of Murang’a, Mwangi wa Iria, the bodies were airlifted by Kenya Airways to Nairobi yesterday. The burial expenses of the pupils would be covered by the government.
“The families will receive their loved ones from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and will be helped to take them to the nearest mortuaries since the pupils came from different areas,” he said.

2 children killed after a tree limb fell on to their tent while they were sleeping

2 young people were killed early Friday after a limb from an oak tree fell on their tent as they slept at a popular campground in Yosemite National Park. The names and ages of the minors were not released, and their deaths remain under investigation, according to park spokesman Scott Gediman. Tuolumne County sheriff’s officials said they will not release the young people’s identities.
"Our thoughts are with the families as they grieve this tragedy," park Supt. Don Neubacher said in a statement.

The youngsters were sleeping in their tent at the popular family Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley. Then at about 5 a.m., a limb from a black oak collapsed on them, Gediman said.

The park’s dispatchers received numerous 911 calls for medical assistance. When they arrived to the campground, the youngsters were dead.
It is unclear why the tree limb fell, but officials said it wasn’t windy that morning, Gediman said.
“Fallen branches like this one are a common occurrence across the park,” he said.
Situated at 4,000 feet in the Yosemite Valley near Curry Village, the campground with views of the park’s most iconic rock formation Half Dome is the chosen destination for families site.
The youngsters’ deaths add to what appears to be a long history of tree-related fatalities at the park.
Two tourists were killed and nine were injured in 1985 when a 25-foot oak branch fell 15 feet onto an open-air tram carrying 50 passengers.
The same series of events happened in 1992, when a branch from an oak tree fell onto another touring bus, injuring seven people. The visitors were stopped on a main road near the Merced River to observe Yosemite Falls. The large branch came crashing as the tour guide spoke.

In Friday’s incident, drought may have played a role but it’s too early to say, Gediman said. Bark beetles steer away from oak, so he said that likely didn’t cause the limb to fall.

Virgin killer Elliot Rodger's six victims' names and faces revealed.

On Friday May 23rd, Elliot Rodger the son of Hollywood movie director, Peter Rodger went on a crazed shooting spree for being rejected by girls and being a virgin at age 22.read the story here.

All six of his victims have been named. They are (top row, from left to right) Katie Cooper, Chris Michael-Martinez, Veronica Weiss, (bottom row, from left to right) Weihan Wang, George Chen, and Cheng Yuan Hong, who shared same apartment with the killer. All were students at UCSB.

A friend of Rodger's two roommates, Wang and Yuan Hong, revealed that they had been planning to move out of the apartment at the end of the semester because they felt uncomfortable living with Elliot and found him 'so strange.'

All three were found with multiple stab wounds in Elliot's apartment in Isla Vista. After killing them, he took 3 handguns and went on a shooting spree, killing three more students before killing himself

Meanwhile his parents yesterday said they had read his chilling manifesto he sent out hours before he embarked on the shooting spree and had been frantically trying to stop him when they heard of the massacre on the radio.

Elliot had emailed a 140-page document to a few people including his parents and his therapist. His mum (pictured above) said she received the email around 9.17pm and immediately went on to his YouTube page where she found the newly uploaded video titled 'Retribution' which described his plan of 'slaughtering' women at a sorority house at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

According to CNN, Mrs Rodger then alerted her estranged husband, Peter, and after he watched the video she called 911. The former couple then set off from LA to Santa Barbara to try find their son but they were too late, as they heard about the shooting en route.

Later that night, their worst fears were confirmed when they were told their son was behind the massacre that left six victims dead and 13 injured.

Was Malaysian plane accidentally shot down by US-Thai fighter jets?.

That's the latest claim 71 days after the plane went missing. Find the UK Daily Mail report below..
The grieving family of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 have criticised the timing of a new book that claims the plane may have been accidentally shot down and the search for survivors covered up.
The family of missing Brisbane man Rod Burrows say they are at pains to understand how still, after 71 days of ongoing global search efforts, no one knows what happened to the missing plane which vanished on March 8 and how a book could be released so soon after.
Flight MH370: The Mystery makes the incredible claim that the airline was shot down by US-Thai joint strike fighters accidentally as part of a training drill gone horribly wrong. The book goes on to claim the search party was purposely  sent in the wrong direction as part of a cover up. Continue....

Irene Burrows, Rod's mother, told the Sun Herald that the book had been released too soon, and that despite the speculation, it offers no concrete answers.
'There's absolutely no answers,' she said. 'It's devastating for the families, it's been 10 weeks tomorrow and there's nothing.'
She said both her and husband George are still trying to comprehend what happened, and that a book full of conspiracies released just 71 days after its disappearance, does nothing to alleviate the pain of losing their son.

But according to the book's author, Nigel Cawthorne, there may never be a clear answer.
He writes in the book how the Burrows, and hundreds more in their situation, will 'almost certainly' never know the real story behind how the ill-fated plane vanished on March 8.

He writes: 'Did they die painlessly, unaware of their fate? Or did they die in terror in a flaming wreck, crashing from the sky in the hands of a madman?'

It is then that Cawthorne makes the incredible assertion that the plane was shot down accidentally over the South China Sea by a joint US-Thai joint strike fighter team, and the searchers sent in the wrong direction as part of a cover up.

He describes how a man, while working on an oil rig in the ocean at about the same time the plane's transponder went off, saw a burning plane and how this was right near the military exercise being conducted with personnel from various other countries.

He claims that these countries may have then sent searchers in the wrong direction in order to cover their tracks.
'After all, no wreckage has been found in the South Indian Ocean, which in itself is suspicious.'
He said with the amount of disinformation regarding MH370, it is best to be skeptical.

Cawthorne also raises more doubt into toe plane's disappearance, claiming it could have been located if its tracking software had been upgraded - something that costs just £6 ($10) per flight.

According to Cawthorne the Boeing 777-200ER had a ‘data package’ that only transmitted the most basic flight information, so authorities weren’t able to get a GPS fix on it.

For just $10, however, this package could have been improved, the book says, resulting in far more detailed information about the 777's movements being pinged.
‘For US$10, you could have told within half an hour’s flying time where the plane would have gone,’ a source told the paper.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, meanwhile, has called for real-time tracking of planes and improvements to their communication systems to prevent a repeat of the 370 tragedy.
In an opinion piece published on Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal, Najib called for changes that would ‘make it harder for an aircraft to simply disappear, and easier to find any aircraft that did.’
‘One of the most astonishing things about this tragedy is the revelation that an airliner the size of a Boeing 777 can vanish, almost without a trace. In an age of smartphones and mobile Internet, real-time tracking of commercial airplanes is long overdue,’ he said.
