LG Electronics launches Gen Cool Inverter V Air Conditioner

LG has announced the release of its latest Residential Air Conditioning (RAC) in Nigeria. The LG Gen Cool Inverter V Air Conditioner which is designed for Nigerian Market. This AC meets the demands of customers who want to use Air Conditioners in Nigeria with small capacity generators. Continue...

It comes with benefits ranging from Affordability : Average 75% generator size reduced with Gen mode; Energy Efficiency : save running cost by maximum 40% through LG advanced  inverter V technology as well as Durability : LVS, AVS & PCB up to 450 V ( Stronger and wider protection).
Unlike the conventional AC (ON/OFF types) which requires big size generator to start AC due to high start-up electric power, LG GEN COOL Inverter V AC can be started with smaller generator due to LG inverter technology. In accordance with LG, for the normal mode 1HP AC needs 1.5 KVA generator while 1.5 HP requires 1.7KVA and 2HP needs 2.2KVA.
The LG GEN COOL Inverter V Air Conditioner comes with the GEN Mode which allows for the use of small capacity generator in areas where electric supply is insufficient eliminating the need for large generator. Easy and convenient, the GEN Mode works by minimizing startup electric requirements.
For customers who desire to use AC with lower capacity than above mentioned generator types, they can choose Gen- Mode on remote control (1HP- 0.9KVA; 1.5HP- 1.1KVA; 2.0HP- 1.5KVA); but in the case of Gen-Mode, the power performance goes down by around 30%
Speaking at the event, Managing Director, LG Electronics West Africa operations, Mr. Deog Jun Kim said: “Going with our notion of Africa at heart we introduced products with local relevance. Starting with Plasma, Titan AVS, Mosquito Away air-conditioners & our latest energy-efficient solution, the GEN COOL Inverter V AC, which allows 1HP AC to run on small capacity generators of 0.9 KVA with Gen Mode .This air conditioner comes with Eco-friendly refrigerant -R410A”
LG’s innovative product performs reliably regardless of electricity supply issues or extreme outdoor temperatures. Incredibly durable, the air conditioner features an upgraded power circuit board (PCB) and corrosion-resistant technologies that ensure greater operational longevity. Importantly, the GEN COOL Inverter V provides the strong, dependable cooling needed to keep Nigerian consumers comfortable year-around.
“LG’s GEN COOL Inverter V offers Nigerian consumers efficiency, cost saving and durability,” said General Manager, Air Conditioning and Energy Solutions, LG Electronics West Africa operations, Mr. Junhwa Jeong. “Thanks to the innovative GEN Mode, our latest air conditioner can work effectively when being run off a small capacity generator. Not even high outdoor temperatures or power grid failure can prevent this impressive model from providing strong, reliable cooling. LG will continue to meet the needs of the African RAC market with a comprehensive range of residential solutions.”
Unlike many other residential air conditioners, the GEN COOL Inverter V works well when powered by a small capacity generator. The GEN Mode, which utilizes LG’s inverter Hz control technology, reduces the voltage necessary for startup and reliable operation. As a result, the GEN COOL Inverter V is able to run on 60 to 70 percent less electricity than most conventional models.
LG’s new RAC solution for Nigeria combines excellent functionality with dependability and rugged durability. An upgraded power circuit board (PCB) is responsible for the air conditioner’s wide 145V to 350V operational range. It also enables the GEN COOL to cope with power surges of up to 500V. Meanwhile, the double powder coating and Platinum Fin protect the compressor from wear and corrosion, which in turn contributes to greater operational longevity.
Also speaking at the event, Managing Director, Fouani Nigeria Limited, Mr. Mohammed Fouani said: “Customers who value durability, stability and powerful performance will find the LG GEN COOL Inverter V as the perfect addition to their apartments. The air conditioner reduces indoor temperatures fast; sending out a large volume of 18 degrees Celsius airflow for 30 minutes. The GEN Mode allows the air conditioner to operate effectively when powered by a small capacity generator, even at a capacity as low as 2KVA.
Effective at combating the relentless Nigerian heat, the tremendous cooling capabilities of the GEN COOL Inverter V deliver supreme comfort. With the Jet Cool function activated, LG’s RAC sends out a cool blast of 18 degrees Celsius airflow for a period of 30 minutes; drastically reducing the indoor temperature in almost no time at all.
With the unveiling of the new LG GEN COOL Inverter V, LG Electronics has once more indicated its commitment to continually develop efficient, effective and highly durable air conditioning solutions tailored to the needs of consumers in Nigeria.

No goalkeepers as FIFA releases World Cup Golden Ball nominees

.

FIFA this evening officially announced the names of the ten players in the running for the adidas Golden Ball, which is awarded to the competition’s most outstanding performer.

The shortlist was drawn up by the members of FIFA’s Technical Study Group, who have been casting their expert eyes over each and every one of the matches held at Brazil 2014 to date. Appearing in alphabetical order, the 10 contenders for the accolade are as follows...see them after the cut...

- Angel Di Maria (Argentina)
In providing Lionel Messi with the best possible support, Di Maria has led the Albiceleste attack with distinction, posing a constant menace to opposing defences with his long-range shooting, mazy dribbling and finishing skills, which he showcased with a well-taken winner against Switzerland in the Round of 16.

- Mats Hummels (Germany)
The Borussia Dortmund centre-half has attracted much praise for his solid displays at the heart of the German defence. As if that were not enough, Hummels has also impressed at the other end of the pitch, rising high to score against Portugal in the group phase and head home the winner against France in the quarter-finals.

- Toni Kroos (Germany)
Kroos ran the show as Die Mannschaft swept aside hosts Brazil 7-1 in the semi-finals, dominating the midfield and posing a constant threat with his passing and shooting, which brought him two goals – all in a day’s work for this most consistent of performers.

- Philipp Lahm (Germany)
The Germany captain began the tournament in midfield before seamlessly making the switch to the right-back slot, without it undermining his performance levels or his considerable influence on Joachim Low’s side.

- Javier Mascherano (Argentina)
Though their much-vaunted attack attracts most of the headlines, Argentina have also been solid in defence, a large part of the credit for which must go to Mascherano for his tireless work in providing the Albiceleste rearguard with essential protection.
- Lionel Messi (Argentina)
Messi had never scored at the world finals prior to Brazil 2014, a record he emphatically set straight with some lethal finishing in each of Argentina’s three group matches. Though yet to find the back of the net in the knockout rounds, he has remained an influential figure for his side.

- Thomas Muller (Germany)
In opening his campaign with a hat-trick against Portugal, Muller picked up where he left off at South Africa 2010, where he collected the adidas Golden Boot. His performances since have underlined his status as the spearhead of Germany’s deadly front line.

- Neymar (Brazil)
Though only 22, the livewire forward ably shouldered the huge responsibility of leading A Seleção. Neymar was his side’s stand-out performer with four goals before an unfortunate injury ended his tournament in the quarter-finals.

- Arjen Robben (Netherlands)
The flying Dutch wide man has been in peerless form since putting defending champions Spain to the sword in his side’s opening match. His incisive runs from deep have been a feature of the tournament.
- James Rodriguez (Colombia)
Recognised as a huge talent heading into the competition, the gifted Rodriguez has since proved his ability to rise to the big occasion. His haul of six goals in five outings was a major reason why Los Cafeteros broke new ground in reaching the last eight for the first time.
The winners of the adidas Golden Ball, Silver Ball and Bronze Ball will all be announced after Sunday’s Final.

Mr Ibu calls out Ibinabo Fiberisima, says 'we don't want her for a 2nd term'

Comic actor John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu has asked AGN president Ibinabo Fiberisima to drop her ambition of running for a second term. According to him, about 90% of the association members do not want her as their leader, with many court cases being instituted against her. He says she is still adamant to rule because she is gaining something.
"Going for a second term is making the anger in people expand. It is better for her not to come again. She should leave the office and allow another person to try. No progress at all. I am not part of it. As I speak with you, Ibinabo has about two to three court cases. We are tired, we want another person. We should try a new person, let's see what he or she would do. About 90% of the people she is ruling say no, but she insisted. Why? Because she is gaining something" he told Encomium magazine this week. Continue...

When asked about his assessment of the movie industry, he said
"If I should talk about the movie industry you would make me shout because the industry is giving me headache. I am not happy at all. I believe we are matured enough to be independent. As big as AGN is we don't have a national headquarters, I mean a film village. Go to other countries in Africa, they have most of these facilities but we have not been able to achieve these because of greed. All the money promised by President Jonathan and other state Government, what have they done with it? Whether it has been collected or not we don't know. It is very painful considering the number of years we have been in existence" he said

'Why I hacked my lawyer father to death' - Student

Tolani Ajayi, the 21year old Redeemer University student who hacked his father to death on Tuesday July 3rd (read here), has finally spoken to reporters about what led him to kill his own dad. Speaking to journalists today at the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, Tolani said he attacked his father after he (the father) beat him with a stick, which he said made him very angry.
"There is no way Nigerians can help me. I am going to face my judgement. I am meant to pay for what I have done. It is not as if I am ready, it is something that is inevitable - something that is going to happen; I am just waiting for it.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. when the church would have been sleeping by then. It was anger that led me to this. There was an argument between us and I stood up to him. He beat me with a stick and bit me with his teeth repeatedly. Just the two of us were at home; my mother was in Abuja,” he said. Continue...
According to Premium Times, when asked if he was under the influence of any drugs when he attacked his father, Tolani admitted taking drugs but denied he was on drugs on the day of the murder, saying it was more spiritual.

He also said it was not planned. He said his father was the one that first went to the kitchen to get a wooden spoon which he used to hit him. Tolani then went into the kitchen, took a knife and cutlass and attacked his father.
“I tried to defend myself, then he bit me on my shoulder and I got angry. I used normal small kitchen knife then I used a cutlass to attack him. I regret the action,”
"My mother is still grieving. I have sent some people to talk to her that I am sorry. I want to give her time. I have talked to my sister. I have asked for forgiveness,” he said.
Tolani said that his family resides in Abuja while he lived at the Redeemed Church, RCCG, camp.
“My father came for a programme; then, my school was on break so I went to meet him. We were meant to go back to Abuja together then the incident happened and I am here,” he said.
Premium Times reports that Tolani was into drugs and had been caught twice by the authorities of Redeemer University. The school had set up a panel to question him on the alleged drug offence before he killed his father.

How Did Katy Perry And Lecrae Get Tangled In A Lawsuit Over ‘Dark Horse’?

Katy Perry may like to play with magic, but a group of Christian rappers don’t see the fun in her #1 single “Dark Horse.”
In 2008 Flame, Grammy Award-winner LeCrae and John Reilly collaborated on “Joyful Noise,” a bouncy ode to Jesus Christ. Now the MCs are claiming that Perry and her team lifted their track and they filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming copyright infringement according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The suit claims that Perry’s tongue-in-cheek track left Flame’s song “irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in ‘Dark Horse’.”
The suit not only names Perry, but Juicy J, Dr. Luke, and Capitol records as well. Take a listen for yourself, what do you think? Did “Dark Horse” lift from “Joyful Noise?”

Nigerian army blames this morning's attack at Palmgrove on area boys

Say what? The Nigerian Army has denied the involvement of its men in the vandalism and burning of some BRT buses this morning at Palmgrove, Ikorodu road.

Speaking with Premium Times, the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Olajide Olaleye, blamed area boys for the attack.
"It’s not true that the soldiers destroyed buses or set any bus on fire. What happened was that a BRT bus knocked down a soldier and killed him. As usual in Lagos, area boys gathered and a few soldiers stopped at the scene as well. The GOC has dispatched military policemen to the scene to help restore law and order,” Mr. Olaleye said.
Lol. Blame it on the area boys when there's photo evidence. 6 BRT buses and 3 other cars were burnt after the soldier's rampage this morning. Even a woman soldier waka join inside...continue...

Nigerian Troops arrest 3 female undercover operatives of Boko Haram

The Nigerian army have released a statement stating that they have arrested 3 women who worked as undercover operatives for Boko Haram. Find the statement below...
In the aftermath of the failed suicide bombing attempt on a military facility by a female terrorist who blew herself up in Gombe recently, troops have arrested three suspected female terrorists who have been secretly recruiting ladies into the female wing of the terrorists group. The suspects, Hafsat Usman Bako, Zainab Idris and Aisha Abubakar were intercepted while travelling to Madagali from where they were to transit to the forest to reunite with their cohorts. Continue...
Investigations revealed that the suspects, led by Hafsat Bako, have the mission to recruit members into the female wing as well as conduct espionage for the group. Hafsat’s link with the terrorists group had earlier been a subject of investigation in 2012, when security agents on a manhunt for one Usman Bako, her husband who was identified as a terrorist, stormed their residence in Jimeta.  This resulted in the discovery of an AK 47 rifle and 2 loaded magazines.   Though Usman Bako later died in an encounter with troops in Sokoto where he had relocated to continue his terrorist activities, Hafsat continued with the terror group specializing in surreptitious recruitment of members into their fold.
The arrested trio suspects were luring ladies especially widows and young girls by enticing them with male suitors who are mainly members of their terror group for marriage. Before their arrest, they were on a mission to take additional briefing from the leadership of the terror group. The trio has been operating together as members of the intelligence team of the group.   Their arrest has yielded information still being verified by security agencies.Colonel ONYEMA NWACHUKWU

Beyonce fuels Jay Z cheating rumours by changing lyrics to songs

Since the elevator attack incident, there have been rumours that Beyonce and Jay Z are having marital problems, with Jay Z being accused of cheating on Queen Bey.
Beyonce, over the weekend, fueled those cheating rumors by changing the lyrics to songs during their show in Ohio on Saturday...almost like she was done pretending that everything was perfect between them.
During her performance of Resentment, a song about a partner who cheats, Bey, who wore a wedding gown, changed the lyrics. Below are the lyrics Beyonce was supposed to sing:
I'll always remember feeling like I was no good / Like I couldn't do it for you like your mistress could Been ridin' with you for six years... I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me.
Now continue to see what she sang instead...

This is what she actually sang:

I'll always remember feeling like I was no good / Like I couldn't do it for you like that wack bitch could Been ridin' with you for twelve years...Look what you’ve done-done to me now...I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me. She ain't even half of me. That bitch will never be. I tried and I tried to forget this. But I’m too damn full of resentment. I know she was attractive but I was here first."
Very telling lyrics. Jay Z and Beyonce have been together for 12 years...she changed the years from 6 to 12.

There were recent reports that Jay Z has had a long-term affair with singer, Mya, and he has been taking care of her for years. It may or may not be true! And Beyonce is not helping matters...

Did lil Wayne just announce Tha Carter V release date

lil wayne has been teasing us with great singles from Tha Carter V, including “Believe Me” featuring Drake and most recently, “Krazy.” So when MTV News caught up with Tunechi on the “Krazy” video set in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning (July 1), we had to ask: When is the album finally dropping?
There was some confusion, but a couple of dates were thrown around.
“I’m so not good with that,” Wayne replied. “I think it drops either in September and then we have…ah I can’t tell you the sneak thing. Anyway, yeah, I think it drops in September or August.”
But what about the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour that kicks off in mid-August? Wouldn’t the album be out before then?
“It might drop before then, in July. [Or] August 25 or something like that?” At the very least, Wayne could confirm that the album is completed — “I’m finished, I’m done” — and that he’d be dropping another project called Da Other Album two months after Tha Carter V hits stores.
“If Tha Carter was to drop in August, [DOA] would be October.”
